Virgin Galactic shares fall 8% after the launch of the first commercial suborbital flight

US space tourism corporation Virgin Galactic launched the Unity spacecraft as part of its first commercial suborbital flight. The launch was broadcast live on the company’s website.

There are six people on board Unity, including two members of the Italian Air Force. The ship rose to a height of 80 km, spent several minutes in gravity and began to return to Earth.

Virgin Galactic shares on the Nasdaq unexpectedly fell 8% thanks to a successful start.

Virgin Galactic made its maiden flight in 2021. Company founder Richard Branson was on board the spacecraft. The flight lasted about an hour and ended successfully.
