British startup Moolec has announced a new miracle of genetic engineering – an analogue of pork meat, grown in the form of soybeans. The new variety was named “Piggy Sooy” and is scientifically a plant, and therefore the methods of cultivation and processing for it are the same as for ordinary soybeans. But the output is a product that may have a high need for people in pork – according to the authors of the startup.

The idea is that it is not necessary to produce the meat itself, it is enough to get a set of diaper rash of animal vital goals in one way or another. Moolec geneticists have identified complexes of such genes, extracted from their usefulness as well as the palatability of the finished dish. In particular, it has the same pink color as pork meat. After that, the genes were added to soy – 26.6% of the proteins in Piggy Sooy are of pig nature.

Growing soy pork is cheaper than synthesizing meat in the lab. He has no opponents – conservationists only raise fears about the reduction of pig production and fear of animals. Meat lovers are also happy, because soy pork is not as repulsive as worm meal or cockroach biscuits, and proteins are still needed from somewhere in the future.

About the cost of products and the timing of entering the market data yet net.
