Mass protests and riots broke out in France after a 17-year-old teenager was killed by police during his arrest on 27 June. Authorities said the teenager did not follow police instructions.
Previously, the French security forces tasked with suppressing the riots were seen armed with Russian-made Vepr-12 carbines that the country may have purchased in the past.
