How does it handle artificial intelligence at the Grammy awards?

But the U.S. Recording Academy, which oversees the Grammys, doesn’t entirely rule out new technology. However, for the award, the organization requires the participation of one person in the production of the songs.

Pursuant to the general rules and guidelines of the 2024 Grammy Awards, Only songs created by AI will be automatically removed from the prize pool.. Songs to be fit must have significant human authorship and cannot rely entirely on algorithms.

If the songs are composed by humans but still contain passages or artificial intelligence-generated material, that’s fine.. In these cases, the works will remain valid and will be eligible for next year’s Grammys. However, this may sound a bit abstract, the organization of the event made clearer explanations. Them:

• “Man-made authorship components in the work must be meaningful and more than ‘minimis’ (the term “minimos” means unimportant or unimportant, according to the ruleset).
• “These human authorship components must relate to the category in which the work falls. For example, if the work is submitted to a composition category, there must be substantial human authorship in the music and/or lyrics. Likewise, the performance category, the human performance element, must be important in a work”.
