The Central Bank assumes that the digital ruble will be available to Russians between 2025 and 2027. In 2023-2024 it will be used “in pilot mode, with a very limited number of clients and operations.” Forbes was informed about this by the first vice-president of the Central Bank, Olga Skorobogatova.
According to her, the launch of the project is not associated with sanctions – the plan was determined in 2021. There are also no difficulties with the software at the regulator, since the digital ruble platform is our own development.
- The Central Bank conducted the first tests of the digital ruble in February 2022. In April, the regulator announced that in 2023 it would begin real transactions with the digital ruble.
- According to the plan of the Bank of Russia, the digital ruble will become a new form of currency and will serve as a means of payment, a measure of value and a store of value.
- Life Pay managing director Ashot Grigoryan told RB.RU how the introduction of the digital ruble will affect the business and what risks the entrepreneur may face here.
