Twitter threatened Meta* with legal action after launching new threads on the social network. This was reported by the Semafor portal, citing a letter from microblogging lawyer Alex Spiro addressed to Mark Zuckerberg.
Twitter accused the Threads’ creators of “systematic, knowing and unlawful use of trade secrets and other intellectual property” of the company.
The letter says that Meta* hired former Twitter employees who had access to trade secrets and helped create the clone app.
Meta* has yet to comment on the situation, but a Semafor source at the company said the allegations are unfounded, as there are no former Twitter employees among Threads’ software engineers.
- The Threads app topped the Russian and American app store the first day after launch. It was downloaded more than 30 million times in one day. In Russia, Threads only works with a VPN. Threads is almost a complete analogue of the social network Twitter owned by Elon Musk. The app has a recommendations feed, where you can post your posts and share others.
