The new social network Threads, developed by the creators of Instagram*, can be downloaded from the Russian version of the AppStore for iPhone. However, using Topics in Russia requires a VPN connection.

When you log in to Threads and try to register, a message appears: “Check your internet connection and try again later.” However, if you are using a VPN service, you should be able to successfully complete the Subject registration process.

The application was released for Android and iOS mobile operating systems on the night of July 6. According to one version, the need to use a VPN is because the Threads account is associated with an Instagram* profile.

Meta* head Mark Zuckerberg introduced Threads before the project started and explained its essence. Threads is a new social network based on Instagram, named as a competitor to the social network Twitter created by Elon Musk. The app has a similar design to Twitter and works on similar principles: users can leave short posts to which you can add photos, videos and links.

Shortly after Threads was announced, Elon Musk challenged Mark Zuckerberg to an MMA fight. A week later, the billionaires announced that they seriously planned to fight in the octagon.

Threads’ full launch is scheduled for July 6 at 17:00 Moscow time.

*It belongs to Meta, which is recognized as an extremist in the Russian Federation and whose activities are prohibited in Russia.
