The official Twitter of the Multichain protocol (formerly Anyswap) announced an unplanned transfer of the main funds of the project to an unknown wallet. Team members have no knowledge of what happened to client assets and recommend refraining from making new transactions on the network.
Multichain Project (formerly Anyswap) Announced about a hacker attack. Client assets in wBTC, USDC and USDT worth $130 million were transferred from the protocol account to an unknown address, after which the service was suspended entirely.
Over the past month, Multichain has experienced a variety of issues, ranging from technical shutdowns to the disappearance of the company’s CEO, who was reportedly detained by Chinese police. In the midst of today’s hack, the crypto community on Twitter has begun discussing the possibility that this is all part of a larger scam created to steal customer funds.
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao offered Multi-chain help. He also noted that clients of the crypto exchange were not affected by the hack, as a day earlier, Binance suspended accepting deposits related to the protocol due to a technical malfunction.
