Fraudsters came up with a new scheme with an invitation to a “personal reception at the Central Bank”

How the circuit works:

• People receive a letter calling them by their first and middle names. It also indicates the time of receipt and the actual address of the Bank of Russia in the region where the potential victim lives.
• The field of the sender of the message indicates the domain of the Bank of Russia cbr.ru (this is done by substituting an email address).
• After sending the letter, the scammers contact the recipient and, under various pretexts, obtain their bank card details and SMS code, or convince them to make a money transfer.

What to do to protect yourself from scammers:

• If a person did not make an appointment with the Bank of Russia, but received such an invitation, then he does not need to respond. The Central Bank recommends deleting the message.
• If you need to clarify the information, the regulator recommends calling the contact center of the Bank of Russia at the toll-free number 8 (800) 300-30-00 (for calls from a mobile phone, short number 300).
• It should be remembered that the Bank of Russia, on its own initiative, does not send invitations to citizens for a personal reception, and the employees of the regulator do not call people and do not send copies of any documents, do not ask for personal and bank details. , and do not offer account transactions.
• For any banking inquiries, you should call the bank at the phone number listed on the back of the card or on the bank’s website.
