In the last two months, the number of domains that are created to steal personal data through the WhatsApp messenger has increased dramatically. This is reported by the digital risk management company BI.Zone.

Cybersecurity experts reveal a rise in WhatsApp data theft domains

The peak was recorded from June 19 to 25: during this period, experts identified 150 new resources. Users are busy with the offer to receive passive income using a chatbot allegedly created by Mark Zuckerberg to work on the financial market.

A total of 252 such sites have been discovered since the beginning of May. To start making money from “Zuckerberg’s new project”, the attackers ask you to go to the WhatsApp bot, take part in the survey and enter his full name, email and phone number.

After that, as reported, the artificial intelligence will supposedly start trading independently on the exchange on behalf of the user. The latter will only have to withdraw the money received.

“In fact, the promised access to financial instruments is not provided and personal data is sent to scammers,” warns BI.Zone.

What you should do to protect yourself:

  • Do not follow questionable links or check page addresses – scammers often disguise resources as well-known sites.
  • Transfer personal data only to official resources.
  • Be skeptical of any quick money or passive income offer.
