All participants of the Russian team won three gold and one silver medals at the International Biology Olympiad held in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.

Medals of the highest standard were awarded to Petr Popov and Ivan Demidov of PL. Alisa Timonian of the Moscow Comprehensive School of Kapitza and the Center for Pedagogical Excellence. Silver was won by Nikita Vorobyov from the same school. The team was led by Associate Professor from Moscow State University named after MV. Lomonosov Galina Belyakova.

297 schoolchildren from 79 countries participated in the Olympiad, which consisted of theoretical and practical tours. Theory assignments included questions on cell and molecular biology, anatomy and physiology of plants, animals and humans, ethology, genetics and evolution, ecology and biosystematics.

The practical part was carried out in laboratories and consisted of four experimental tasks in the fields of ecology and ethology, molecular biology of plants, biochemistry and bioinformatics.
