Microsoft finally started making 3D emojis available in Windows 11, nearly two years after announcing that it was working on a new, more modern design for traditional images. Refreshed skins are released for OS testers.
The new versions, which first appeared in July 2021, were scheduled to be released in November of that year, a few weeks after the release of Windows 11. However, the visuals added at that time did not bring the design promised by the technology giant.
However, the Redmond company claims that the story will be different with the new emojis. Switching to color font format for COLRv1 enables “display of richer emojis with 3D look”It will be supported in some programs and browsers soon.
According to Microsoft, 3D emojis are enhanced with gradients to adopt the design style users want, giving more expressiveness to communications. The templates available in the preview are similar to the versions released in Microsoft Teams last year.
