The Ministry of Digital Development proposed to equate electronic driver’s licenses with physical ones. The ministry has prepared a draft corresponding government decree, according to the project card on the Federal Portal of Projects of Regulatory Legal Acts.
It is assumed that it will be possible to present a driver’s license not only on a physical medium, but also in electronic form through the Gosuslugi.Avto service.
The initiative aims to simplify the procedure for presenting a driver’s license, is specified in the explanatory note of the document.
The Ministry of Digital Development and the traffic police have been developing the introduction of electronic driver’s licenses since 2019. It was previously reported that the State Inspectorate intends to implement such rights by the end of 2022.
