Lensa AI and Flo Health investor Alexei Gubarev renounced Russian citizenship

Gubarev has Cypriot citizenship, which he received by naturalization. The renunciation of Russian citizenship followed immediately after the entry of the RF Armed Forces into the territory of Ukraine.

The investor has been living in Cyprus for more than 20 years and in 2017 told RBC that the decision to move from Novosibirsk was associated with a series of “problems and incidents of various sizes.”

In 2013, Gubarev founded Servers.com, a bare-metal server provider. He acted as a majority shareholder in the company, but recently sold his stake to CloudOne Digital. According to data cited by Forbes with reference to an investor representative, Gubarev has not been involved in the operational management of Servers.com for the past few years.

According to TechCrunch, citing sources, the deal is valued at $200 million, but the parties did not disclose details.

In 2016, Gubarev, together with Yuri Gursky (former vice president of Mail.Ru Group), created the Haxus venture fund. In 2020, Gursky reorganized the fund, it received a new name Palta. At the time, the company’s projects included the women’s health app Flo and Prisma, which developed the Lensa AI photo service.

The Interior Ministry reported in January that 40 people had renounced Russian citizenship by 2022. They include Oleg Tinkov, Nikolai Storonsky, Ruben Vardanyan and Yuri Milner.
