Beeline will be the first among mobile operators to start testing Russian 4G equipment. This fall, the company plans to install base stations of domestic production, Vedomosti reported, citing Vladimir Valkovich, director of strategy and long-term planning for the development of the Beeline network.
In a first stage, the equipment will be used in rural areas and to cover roads. The base stations will be tested in the Leningrad or Nizhny Novgorod regions. At the same time, the network will be as close as possible to actual conditions, including load traffic creation and emergency situations.
- In December 2021, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko reported that by 2023, with due demand, it is planned to launch mass production of Russian 4G base stations. Then the equipment was tested by cellular operators. By the end of 2022, according to Chernyshenko, manufacturing companies should have been ready to accept orders for the supply of LTE equipment for projects covering settlements of up to 25,000 people.
- Later it became known that Skoltech and the Radio Research Institute were preparing a project to develop communication equipment for the sixth generation of 6G. To do this, they asked for 30 billion rubles. The team can be created by 2025.
