The 2023 Women’s World Cup kicks off this Thursday (20) and Google Doodle celebrates the opening. Based in New Zealand and Australia, the World Cup will run until August 20, with 32 teams participating, including Brazil.
Clicking on doodle, user goes to theme search and here it is possible to find calendar, news and classification at your fingertips. There are other topics as well, such as a page devoted to players and match statistics.
Google, “Good luck to all the participating national teams. The world watches with flags in their hands and hope in their hearts!” says Google.
Users can also compete with other football fans in an online multiplayer game. Searching for “2023 women’s world cup” and clicking on the ball in the lower right corner will load the game and allow players to make a choice. Then kick the penalties by dragging the ball towards the goal.
Brazilian Premiere
The Brazilian team, which was vice-champion in the World Cup in 2007 and 3rd in 1999, is still fighting for the first place. In this issue, Brazil will play their first game against Panama at 8am (Brasília time) next Monday (24th).
Led by Swedish Pia Sundhag in Group F, the team will face France, who eliminated Brazil in the final Cup, at 7 am next Saturday (Saturday 29). Canarinho, who closed the group stage, will face Jamaica again on Wednesday, August 2 at 7 am.
Like FIFA’s men’s event, the Women’s Cup is held every four years. The tournament began to be played in 1991 in China. This is being done for the first time in Oceania.
