The Yandex Go app has started displaying a price forecast for planning taxi rides, Yandex said in a statement. Now you can check not only the level of demand at the current time, but also see how the price usually changes during the day.
A special schedule has appeared in the application, according to which the user can decide whether to call a taxi right now or, conversely, wait to avoid rush hours and save money.
To build a graph, the algorithm compares data from several indicators at once: it looks at the number of nearby free taxis and the cost of a trip along this route over the past four weeks.
Yandex Go notes that during such a period sufficient data is collected for evaluation, and at the same time, as a rule, weather and road conditions are similar. If the price of a trip is higher or lower than usual, the application will also note this and indicate what factors have influenced it.
The app offers users other ways to save money during the peak demand period. For example, the algorithm might suggest that after completing a trip, you walk a few minutes to the destination or carpool with a fellow traveler by selecting the “Together” option.
