If you are fully committed to the brand Mansana and you’re walking the streets with your iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods, how about completing the look with a pair of Apple-branded sneakers?
Auction house Sotheby’s recently put a pair of retro shoes up for sale for $50,000.
According to the listing in the article, the shoes were custom-made by Omega Sports employees for Apple and were part of a one-off giveaway at the National Selling Conference in the mid-1990s.
“Never seen by the general public, this particular pair of sneakers is one of the most obscure in existence and is in high demand in the resale market,” Sotheby’s said in a statement.
The shoe features a predominantly white upper and a rainbow-colored Apple logo released by the tech giant in 1999. The logo is also present on the tongue of each shoe.
The rare item is packaged as new and comes with an alternative set of red laces. However, over time, the shoes were marked with blemishes, including yellowing around the midsole and light markings on the toe box.
Yes, and in the unlikely event that the buyer (if any) wants to use them, they must be 10.5 feet.
A pair of the same sneakers (size 9.5) went up for auction in 2020 for $9,687 after 20 auctions. That’s a decent amount of money, too, but far less than the winning bid for the original iPhone in a box with 4GB of storage, which sold in a recent auction for $190,372.
But that’s just a cut from the staggering $905,000 winning bid at the 2022 auction for a working Apple-1 computer built in the 1970s, one of only 200 made and believed to be one of 50 built by Steve Wozniak in Steve Jobs’ garage.
