Russians will be prohibited from registering on Russian websites using foreign mail services, such as Gmail or Yahoo. The State Duma approved the relevant legislative amendments, the innovations will enter into force in December.
Deputies of the State Duma in the second reading approved the adopted legislative amendments on the ban on registration on Russian sites using foreign mail services. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
The rules will go into effect on December 1. From this day on, it will be possible to register on Russian websites only using a Russian phone number, Gosuslugi account, Unified Biometric System data or “other information system” owned by a citizen of the Russian Federation or a legal entity registered in Russia.
A different information system means, for example, VKontakte or a postal address on Mail.ru, said State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein.
The amendments do not yet provide sanctions for sites that did not offer the possibility of registration using legally approved methods.
