According to Chinese source VR陀螺, Samsung was working on a prototype AR headset that looked very different from the Apple Vision Pro design.
While the design could not compete with the Cupertino solution, internal components were needed to make the device competitive. However, this did not happen.
While Apple Vision Pro gets its power from M2 and R2 chips, Samsung’s prototype AR headset is powered by the Exynos 2200 processor, which is also used in Galaxy S22 smartphones.
This processor is known for its efficiency and performance issues. Thus, the Apple Vision Pro was miles ahead of the competition.
However, Samsung’s AR headset had its advantages: MicroLED panels, a battery located on the back, and the ability to work without a controller.
After the announcement of the Apple Vision Pro, Samsung decided to stop developing this prototype and focus on creating a device that could compete with Apple’s product.
