Technologies to increase oil production, including complex oil from the Bazhenov formation, are planned to be introduced in Russia by 2025 using the SKIF synchrotron under construction in Novosibirsk. This was shared by Sergey Golovin from the scientific and educational center “Gazpromneft – NGU”.
Synchrotron is a device that allows you to study the microcosm of oil reservoirs, carefully analyze processes at the molecular level. This approach could lead to new oil recovery methods. According to Golovin, this approach could progress and lead to the cooperation of many Russian and foreign companies.
The Bazhenov Formation is a rock group in Western Siberia that contains large hydrocarbon reserves, but it is difficult to extract them. Golovin emphasized that the main purpose is to improve production methods, especially in narrow formations. A key role is given to hybrid operations and the SKIF synchrotron.
The cooperation will involve eight organizations, universities and research institutes, including Gazprom. This association will work on technologies that will improve production. This project will be officially announced at the Technoprom International Forum in Novosibirsk, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and the Government of the Novosibirsk Region.
