Sberbank warns that scammers can use public Wi-Fi or set up fake Internet hotspots to steal personal data of Russians and steal money from accounts.
Scammers can set up fake Wi-Fi or hack public Wi-Fi to gain access to your personal and banking information. The bank recommends making sure that secure WPA2/WPA3 encryption is used, which can be checked in the access point settings, before connecting to Wi-Fi.
It is better not to use banking applications, make payments and download files when using public Wi-Fi networks. Experts also recommend visiting only sites with a secure connection (indicated by the letters padlock and https) and installing antivirus on your smartphone.
