At the age of 41, Peev holds both American and Bulgarian citizenship and has managed to make a fortune by investing in cryptocurrencies. His cousin reported the missing man on August 10, and the death occurred between 8 and 9 August, according to investigators.
Vesko Valchinov, the alleged murderer, knew Peev and worked as a bartender at many social parties where they met. Peev helped Valchinov run a cryptocurrency business.
Investigators believe the murder may be about money. Peev’s body was dismembered and his remains were found in the sewers.
Valchinov was arrested on 13 August and another suspect, Konstantin Subotinov, was detained for helping to cover the body.
