Apple has filed a new patent called “Electronic Devices with Color Picker Sensors”.

According to it, an optical sensor, proximity sensor, light sensor, fingerprint sensor, or other under-display sensor can read colors that emit a sequence of red, green, and blue light towards an external object located in its line, and measure RGB reflectance levels.

Then the scheme in the watch will be applied to the color image using a special algorithm, and we will create it in advance using a list of watch strap colors. Based on this data, the watch can match the colors of the dials to the installed straps.

So far, this is only a patent and not the fact that Apple will apply it in the future. But this solution looks interesting.
