Apple and other electronics manufacturers, represented by major industry lobby groups, have spent millions fighting right to repair legislation that requires them to provide repair manuals, parts and tools to the public.
Apple announced that it supports California’s SB 244 law, which allows consumers and independent repair shops to repair electronic devices.
The letter, obtained by 404 Media, to Apple’s bill writer Susan Eggman, emphasizes that the company supports the bill because it provides security measures for users as well as intellectual property protection for manufacturers.
