In addition to the big Windows 11 update announced this Tuesday (28), Microsoft also revealed that the system has become more integrated with the iPhone.. Launch of the Phone Link app for iOS, which was previously only available on Android, will allow users to control some functions of the mobile phone via computer.

Originally available in preview only for Windows Insiders program users, the tool allows the two systems to “talk” more easily. With the addition, it will be possible to select the Apple mobile phone when configuring the Phone Link application.

Windows 11’s integration with iPhone pairs between devices over Bluetooth. Thus, the user will be able to view and reply to text messages from your phone and answer calls while using your computer. However, it is not possible to reply to group messages or send media files such as pictures.

This is a progression of what Microsoft announced late last year. For example, it is already possible to quickly access photos stored in iCloud via Windows File Explorer, an already available tool.

Syncing an iPhone with Windows 11

To use the new Phone Link for iOS on Windows 11, users must be part of the Insiders program. However, it is noteworthy app preview should be distributed to a limited number of people.

While downloading the new version of the app, you will be able to see different options on the main page: Android and iPhone. Just select the Apple device to follow the installation.

The app quickly initiates the pairing step, which involves reading a QR code on the mobile phone to confirm the action. You will also need to confirm a code and grant usage permissions, including Bluetooth, for syncing to occur.
