The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) is considering payments from mobile operator customers regarding the use of mobile Internet for distribution to other devices. According to the press service of the FAS, MTS, Beeline, MegaFon and Tele2 charge such a fee.
FAS turned to telecom operators to resolve the situation. It now analyzes data from operators and if violations of antitrust laws are detected, appropriate action will be taken.
Since April, MTS began to charge additional fees for the possibility of using mobile Internet on other devices. This fee can reach 1500 rubles per month. Beeline also introduced this fee for new subscribers in some tariffs. Some operators offer separate tariffs for using the Internet on other devices. Operators claim that the introduction of this payment helps in more efficient use of network resources.
The Ministry of Digital Development has developed a strategy for the development of communications in Russia until 2035; this provides the possibility of increasing tariffs if operators invest in the development of networks and new technologies.
