OpenAI has launched a partnership program to further train its AI models using third-party data. The company especially expects data in the form of long texts or human conversations, but neither the language nor the topic nor the format matters.
OpenAI is currently working with interested companies and the Icelandic government. With the help of selected data sets, the developer aims to improve GPT-4’s ability to understand user queries in Icelandic.
Companies interested in the program can apply on the OpenAI website, indicating the type and volume of data provided. Information can be transferred in two ways: the first is an open source file, which is ideal for relevant data sets for training language models. However, data presented in this way will be available to everyone.
As a second option, OpenAI invites organizations to provide information in the form of private data that will be used to train their own AI models, including basic, precision, and custom models. This option is recommended for companies and institutions that want to keep their data private.
The company’s message emphasizes that it is not interested in data that contains personal or sensitive information.
Recently, OpenAI introduced a more powerful and cheaper version of its language model: ChatGPT-4 Turbo. It is already available via API, its knowledge limit is April 2023. The company said that the new version costs developers three times cheaper: $0.01 per 1,000 input tokens and $0.03 per 1,000 output tokens .
