One of the leading researchers of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI) noted that the experts do not intend to hide any information. This comment came after the statement by Yuri Borisov, head of Roscosmos.
Recall that the official explained the cause of the accident: the station’s engine ran for 127 seconds instead of the planned 84 seconds, which caused the device to crash into the moon.
Borisov said that the commission has begun work and will analyze in detail all the conditions that led to the abnormal operation of the corrective engine. Eismont, who has experience of participating in such investigations, assured of the transparency and independence of the commission.
The Luna-25 station was launched on August 11 and was supposed to make a soft landing on the Moon’s South Pole on the 21st. But on August 19 an emergency occurred that did not allow the transfer of the device to pre-landing orbit. As a result, the station collided with the Moon and ceased to exist.
