The Kyrgyz Ministry of Culture considers the social network with short videos TikTok harmful to the mental health of children and demands its blocking in the country, reports Interfax citing a message from the department.
The Ministry of Culture of the Republic sent its decision to the Ministry of Digital Development. He says that various non-governmental organizations have reported on the harms and dangers of TikTok. The social network has a negative impact on the psyche of children, according to the department.
Among the complaints against TikTok is the lack of content moderation, the platform does not restrict access to information that is harmful to the health and development of children. Also, TikTok videos are not age flagged.
At the same time, TikTok is actively developing as a platform where global artists post their work. According to Hypebeast, the hip-hop artist Nicki Minaj has released a single that is only available on this social network.
After the social network restricted its activities on the territory of the Russian Federation, Russian millionaire bloggers lost 72% of their income. In 2022, amid sanctions, the social network banned authors in the Russian Federation from monetizing content and also deprived them of the opportunity to post videos and stream them from the country.
