The reason for the uproar was that the couriers sent by mail that August 31 was the last day that the Russians could independently refuse to have their biometric data collected in a single system.

The Center for Biometric Technologies stated that a refusal can be filed at any time and that the information on the mailing list is unreliable. Citizens can delete the biometric data already registered in their personal account in the State Services, recalled the CBT.

Under the law passed in 2023, various organizations, including banks, are required to transfer the biometric data of Russians to the Unified Biometric System.
