The project enables the creation of a family-oriented and pedestrian-oriented utopia with solar power plants.
Since 2018, Flannery Associates has purchased more than 2,023,500 acres in eastern Solano County with support from tech leaders like Reed Hoffman, Mark Andreessen, and the Collison brothers. The project involves housing tens of thousands of residents in two-story townhouses overlooking public parking spaces. While neighboring farms continue to operate, the project’s lands will house housing, solar power, open spaces, and protect agriculture and living spaces.
However, the implementation of the project is fraught with some challenges, including obtaining permission from local authorities to reconstruct agricultural land for urban use, as well as addressing issues regarding affordability of housing expressed by local politicians.
