X owner Elon Musk approved The changes, however, ensured that only public data would be collected, regardless of private messages. While X doesn’t have a strong AI goal, Musk founded xAI, a company with big ambitions to explore the universe, hinting at the possibility of collaborating with X on this mission.

Another possibility is X’s desire to enter the realm of “business” social networks: Musk has expressed disdain for LinkedIn and hinted that a more attractive alternative could be created.

While there has been speculation that user data could be sold, there is no concrete evidence of this, and in the past X has primarily used the data for its own benefit, not for the benefit of third parties.
