Two top Russian managers have left crypto exchange Binance. Gleb Kostarev was vice president for Eastern Europe, the CIS, Turkey, Australia and New Zealand, while Vladimir Smerkis directly oversaw Russia. Earlier, Binance announced that it was looking at options to exit the Russian market.
Gleb Kostarev and Vladimir Smerkis announced their departure from the Binance crypto exchange. They wrote about this on their pages in social networks.
Kostarev, as vice president, oversaw Eastern Europe, the CIS, Turkey, Australia, and New Zealand. Smerkis was the director of Binance in Russia. Kostarev has been at Binance since 2018, Smerkis since 2022. Both did not explain the reasons for their decision.
Earlier, Binance announced plans to exit the Russian market. The company told The Wall Street Journal that “all options are being considered,” including exit from Russia.
At the end of August, Binance introduced restrictions so that Russians who pass the KYC verification can trade any currency other than ruble through the Binance P2P service.
