Many watched the adventures of a mercenary named John Wick performed by the wonderful Keanu Reeves. Among all his deadly toys, including in all four parts, some very cool leg with a switchblade flashes quite often.
John Wick, for example, uses this knife in a spectacular fight with another mercenary in a subway car in the second part of the franchise. And I began to wonder – what kind of knife is this?
I started looking for information and was very surprised. Because I have been using practically the same knife for quite some time now, only from the collector’s series.
Now we will find out what kind of brand this is, why this particular knife was chosen for filming in the film, and how much such a knife now costs in Russia (you are very surprised).
Anthony Marfione and his Microtech
Living legend Anthony Marfione, founder of the Microtech knife company.
In America, the knife industry is quite developed and popular, with its own iconic characters and blade models. Among the characters, a man named Anthony Marfione especially stands out, who invented an automatic system for removing the blade from the handle and became practically the godfather of OTF knives (Remote knife) with frontal ejection of the blade.
So, accordingly, the cult knife from Marfione and his company Microtech has become the Ultratech model, which is precisely a knife with a frontal ejection of the blade for switching the side slider on the handle.
Microtech Ultratech has dozens, not counting color options, and more than 8 options for blade shape and sharpening.
Also in the model range there are limited versions of this knife, dedicated, for example, to the Star Wars universe or the presidential state.

Examples of limited Ultratech models dedicated to the zombie apossicalis, Darth Vader and death.
Despite the rather tricky mechanism inside the handle, Microtech Ultratech knives are able to withstand almost any test that has been repeatedly asked in the harsh tests of Western bloggers.
These knives were burned, drowned, used as nail pullers, used to press out door jambs, and cut the interior and hood of a car. And after all the tests, the knife still worked perfectly and practically did not lose its sharpness.
Microtech Ultratech are so reliable that they are even mandatory in the equipment of American firefighters, for example, in the state of New York. And among collectors it is believed that if you have Ultratech, then you have gone through all the knives and found zen.
So the choice of knife for a tough mercenary was obvious: you need the most reliable, and most importantly – effective. So in the hands of John Wick you can see from film to film both the classic Microtech Ultratech and the Microtech Combat Troodon OTF D/E, which is a variation of the Ultratech with a dagger-type blade.
If you already want one for yourself, I’m in a hurry to get it double-edged dagger-type blade is prohibited in Russia And you won’t be able to buy exactly these models, it’s illegal.
Now I’ll show you my Microtech Ultratech. Check it out.
Mickey Mouse and Steamboat Willie
This knife is simply made for photo shoots.
Among the interesting Microtech Ultratech limited editions, I switched between two, eventually choosing the Microtech Signature Series Ultratech Steamboat Willie model, dedicated to Mickey Mouse and the first cartoon in which this character appeared, “Steamboat Willie.”
And he was right, because the second model, Microtech Ultratech Bounty Hunter, turned out to be too pop and widespread.
Take advantage of the services of choice and the fact that I bought my knife for 54,000 rubles at the beginning of 2024. Today this model already costs 114,000 rubles. and is available only in two online stores in Moscow.
The blade has a white coating with black stripes, which refer to the smoke from the room of that same steamboat.
I was unable to find Steamboat Willie on the official Microtech website, as well as on Amazon; they are out of stock. at all. So the value of this knife will only increase over time.
The handle is made of anodized impact, on a blade made of M390 steel and razor sharp. There is a glass breaker at the end (my hands are still itching to check it out in reality) and a hole for a lanyard. On a clip for carrying in a pocket or on a belt instead of the Microtech logo, in the shape of a steamship steering wheel, and on the handle there is Mickey himself in a captain’s cap, holding in his hand an Ultratech with a “Tanto” blade.

Truly a work of art, I have never seen a better and more pleasant tactile knife.
During the entire time I owned this knife, I used it both for opening parcels and boxes, and in nature during summer picks for household needs. I confirm the reliability and quality and recommend Microtech Ultratech to everyone who wants to immediately own “iPhone among pocket knives“, rather than spending money on several models in search of the one ideal.
Today, the average price of serial Microtech Ultratech in different colors in Russia ranges from 55 to 67 thousand rubles. Collectible copies dedicated to “Star Wars” can be purchased for 75-90 thousand rubles.
Classic Microtek Ultratek. There is a wide choice of handle colors, from green to blue.
Expensive? Oh yes. Is such an accessory worth the money? Well, I would say that serial franchises are definitely worth it, and for collectors and fans of the “star” franchise the price is unlikely to matter, given the relative rarity of such artifacts.
Yes, in my collection there are several more interesting EDC knives that may surprise even an experienced knife lover. So, if you are interested, I’ll tell you about other items, among which are not the popular Spyderco or Bugout.
