Apple and Arm reached a deal that extends beyond 2040. The partnership was revealed in one of giant Arm’s initial public offering (IPO) documents last week. Information taken from: Reuters.
However, the documents do not show details of the collaboration. The agreement is only Partnership relationship between the two companies that guarantees access to Apple’s Arm architecture.
But the deal isn’t necessarily a surprise. Apple uses the Arm architecture in nearly all of its devices today (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro), so it’s predictable that it would be interested in maintaining this friendly relationship with the chip design company.
Despite being with Apple, Arm is not exclusive: In the document, the company showed interest in buying some of the shares of tech giants, including AMD, Google, Intel, Nvidia, Samsung and TSMC.
Arm IPO
Nvidia tried to buy Arm for $40 billion between 2020 and 2022. However, in February last year, the agreement was canceled on monopoly charges.
The acquisition will be one of the biggest negotiations in the technology market. However, since the purchase was not completed, Arm remained open to the game. The company has been seeking an IPO since 2022, and it looks like this capital change will eventually happen.
