Skillbox will increase its stake in the Skillfactory IT school to 100%, the holding company’s press service told Forbes. The platform is planned to be consolidated in early 2024; The terms of the transaction are not disclosed.

Now Skillbox owns 63.8% of Skilfactory LLC, 15.4% each – Alexander Eroshkin and Alexander Turilin, another 3.6% belongs to Pavel Astafurov, according to data from Kontur.Focus.

The holding company became the majority shareholder of Skillfactory in 2021. The company was founded in 2016 by Dmitry Krutov, Igor Koropov and Sergei Popkov. In the following years, VK (then Mail.ru) increased its stake in Skillbox, bringing it to 60.3% by the end of 2019.

In the summer of 2021, VK, together with the founders of Skillbox and the Alexander Galitsky private foundation, created the educational holding Skillbox Limited based on the Skillbox and GeekBrains platforms they own. VK retained control of the holding (50.06%), another 22.7% remained in the hands of the company’s founders, and Galitsky’s fund received 14.2%. Another 13% was reserved for a long-term employee motivation program.

According to Skillbox founder and CEO Dmitry Krutov, after the deal the company will continue to develop the Skillfactory and Contented brands.

Skillfactory CEO Maria Zlygosteva assured that the platform will continue to expand the focus on training adults, giving them the opportunity to gain real experience in IT and design.

Previously, Skillbox launched the EdTech platform “Akademika” with courses and programs from Russian universities and companies.
