Only 1% of Russians submitted written requests to refuse biometric data collection, the Ministry of Digital Development reported. The average age of applicants is 60-70 years old, most of them are unemployed and do not use state services, and one in nine applications was written by children for their parents.

The Ministry of Digital Development has revealed statistics on requests for refusal to collect biometric data: they were submitted by 1% of Russians.

Less than 1% of Russians submitted a written request to refuse the collection of their biometric data. This was reported to the Ministry of Digital Development.

Most often, people in their 60s and 70s, mostly unemployed and not using state services, refused to collect biometric data. 65% of the applicants are women, the rest are men. About half of those who applied for admission to the MFC live in small cities, and in 12% of cases children applied for admission.

At the end of August, the Russians went to the MFC to submit requests to refuse the collection of biometric data. The reason for the growing interest in refusing to collect biometric data was a misleading newsletter.

In September, the government approved a resolution that will allow withdrawal of consent for the collection of biometric data through “State Services”, and not through a written statement to the MFC.
