Yandex.Browser added neural network voice-over translation in five languages for any YouTube stream, the company said.
The feature works for broadcasts in English, German, French, Spanish and Italian.
As of August 2022, streaming translation is available only for some YouTube channels, including TED, Google, Apple, and SpaceX. Now there are no channel restrictions.
Over the past year, developers have improved the quality of translation and modified the infrastructure, so the performance of video cards processing streams on Yandex servers has doubled and the number of streams that users can watch simultaneously with the translation increased by 100 times.
The ability to cope with high loads allowed us to extend the new browser feature to all YouTube channels.
Stream translation is in open beta testing mode. To evaluate the functionality, you need to open a live stream on YouTube and click the “Translate Stream” button.
Previously, Yandex.Browser was taught how to create subtitles for Russian videos and broadcasts using a built-in neural network.
