Google recently discontinued the software of the Pixel 4a, the “people’s” smartphone that was released only three years ago. This decision caused dissatisfaction among users and raised questions about long-term support for the brand’s devices.
Pixel 4a was not on the list of devices supported by Google’s latest security update. This was the first hint that the company no longer plans to update this model.
Additionally, the smartphone was removed from the Android 14 public beta program, confirming the end of support.
According to Google’s official support page, the Pixel 4a was supposed to receive security updates by at least August 2023. However, the device not receiving the update in September was the final straw: Pixel 4a was doomed.
