More than 37 million people will be informed via e-mail about the compensation process, which is expected to last about a month. Players who believe they have been defrauded have until January 17, 2024 to file a claim through the FTC website. The settlement represents one of the largest settlements awarded in similar cases to date.

In addition to the refund, Epic Games was ordered to pay $275 million for violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
