President of the All-Russian Movement of Entrepreneurs, musician and owner of the Grebnevo estate, Andrey Kovalev, criticized Wildberries’ work with its partners.
Kovalev accused the platform of receiving 80% of its income from fines and also doubted that the spouses Tatyana and Vladislav Bakalchuk are really the owners of this business.
Kovalev posted on Instagram* a fragment of a video of a meeting with representatives of Wildberries, where he criticized the operation of the site.
“Why isn’t Tatyana Bakalchuk in your place? Find time to meet with Mikhail Litvin (millionaire blogger, launched sales courses, where Bakalchuk was among the mentors – editor’s note) <…> He opens courses for infogypsies and sends you,” Kovalev was outraged.
He noted that Wildberries receives “colossal profits and turnover”, but at the same time benefits from fines: “You say: top managers started with small businesses, they understand everything. You’re lying! Eighty percent of their income comes from fines.”
“Something tells me that the Bakalchuks are not the real owners, this is some kind of cover <…>. Since Vladislav cannot connect two words, he cannot answer the simplest question. Tatyana Bakalchuk is friends with scammers like Mikhail Litvin,” Kovalev continued.
He also proposed nationalizing Wildberries: “I continue to be of the opinion that it is necessary to nationalize Wildberries, appoint normal administrators and, of course, the shares must be sold or distributed among the owners and sellers of the collection points.”
RB.RU sent a request to the company’s press service.
- According to Forbes, Tatyana Bakalchuk’s fortune is estimated at $7 billion and Wildberries’ turnover in the first half of 2023 increased by 94% to 1.2 trillion rubles.
- Sellers of wild berries occasionally complain about the operating conditions of the market. Then, in October 2022, sellers complained of problems working with the marketplace’s new payment system and went to the Wildberries office, accompanied by police, trying to arrange a meeting with management.
- In May 2023, sellers organized a demonstration for the write-off of millions of rubles for “advertising services.”
- Wildberries also introduces new fines. For example, since February, sellers have been punished for the lack of labeling on products when this is established by law, as well as for the fact that the labeling is not legible.
