The original police line in the game is: “Didn’t all these bastards make it in the Wasteland?” But the Ukrainian studio translated it this way: “Couldn’t all the Russians die here, in Pusttsi?”

This translation concerns members of the “Scavengers” gang, consisting of immigrants from the USSR. Members of this gang communicate in Russian, have characteristic tattoos, and are engaged in drug production in the game’s Wasteland.

This creative decision of the translators caused outrage among Cyberpunk 2077 players and fans. There were many who called such a translation “inappropriate” and “provocative”.

Representatives of CD Projekt RED, responsible for the development of the game, have not yet commented on the situation.
