Amazon announced last Monday (25) that it could invest up to $4 billion in Anthropic. A. The startup in the generative artificial intelligence (AI) sector is one of the main competitors of OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT. The deal will give the e-commerce giant a minority stake in the company.
The amount equivalent to R$ 19.8 billion in direct conversion will be gradually invested. Amazon will provide US$1.25 billion (R$6.2 billion) initially, with the option to invest the remaining US$2.75 billion over time.
With this partnership, Anthropic will use Amazon Web Services (AWS) as the primary cloud provider for workloads, including security research and base model development.
There are also plans to use custom AWS chips to build, train and deploy future AI models.
In order, Amazon will be able to incorporate its new business partner’s productive artificial intelligence technology into many of its productslike Amazon Bedrock to improve customer experiences.
Additionally, the retailer is firmly entering the AI race to compete against rivals Meta, Microsoft and Google.
