Apple is developing an artificial intelligence (AI) tool similar to ChatGPT, CEO Tim Cook reveals, in an interview this Friday (29). The company is currently hiring more employees to develop these projects. Information taken from: BBC news.
“This is literally everywhere in our products, and of course we are also exploring generative AI,” the CEO said.
The term “generative AI” represents models that can create media (e.g., text, audio, photos, and video) from commands. ChatGPT, Dall-E, Bing Chat, and Windows Copilot fall into this category.
During the interview, the manager did not provide details about the project and it may be some time before more information emerges. Apple is being very cautious when launching new products, and something like an AI virtual assistant could be something worth considering for the company.
More hiring to develop AI
In September this year, a rumor emerged that Apple was accelerating AI development to improve Siri. According to a report prepared by Information, There are at least two teams at the company dedicated to developing entirely new language models.
During the interview, Cook emphasized that the company is looking for talent to complement the development of these projects. “Yes, we are recruiting in this area and hopefully [o investimento] “increase,” he said.
However, new artificial intelligence may not necessarily need to be shaped as virtual assistants. The CEO notes that the technology is present in existing mechanisms such as collision detection, iOS autocorrector, and Apple Watch fall detection.
