JSC GLONASS proposed creating a system for emergency warning in transport in China. They want to share their experience on the implementation of the ERA-GLONASS state information system, the world’s first national coverage system for emergency calls. This project in China will be one of the largest uses of GLONASS and BeiDou (Chinese navigation satellite system) satellite systems in the transportation sector. It was designed to improve safety and save the lives of many Chinese drivers.
This joint project also promotes the export of high-tech Russian solutions, creating a new direction of cooperation between Russia and China. This will help improve the safety and sustainability of transportation systems, an important societal goal.
Speaking at the Global Sustainable Transport Forum in Beijing, the company’s CEO highlighted GLONASS’ unique competencies and successful technological solutions proven by ERA-GLONASS’ eight years of experience. He also expressed interest in further negotiations with the Chinese side and highlighted the potential to create new digital services and products, such as voice assistants and remote control for security and vehicle management.
