The CEO of OpenAI believes that the main goal of artificial intelligence is to help people perform their work tasks, not replace them. The businessman wrote about this in his X profile.

Sam Altman: AI is designed to help people at work, not replace them

“An important point: [ИИ-системы] They cope much better with tasks than with jobs. And giving people better tools to speed up their work often leads to fundamental changes in what they can do,” the OpenAI director wrote.

At the same time, the founder of the ChatGPT development company admitted that in the long term, neural networks will learn to perform all the tasks of some professions.

“I’m sure we’ll find a new, much better job when that happens,” Altman added.

The director of OpenAI wrote this post in response to the post by the CEO of the logistics company Flexport, Ryan Petersen. He wrote that thanks to the ChatGPT-4-based pilot introduced by the technical team, a task that previously took operators 30 minutes “can now be completed in 20 seconds with a single request.”

According to the CEO, Flexport’s personnel costs for transport coordination thanks to AI have been reduced to 10% of the cost of international shipping.

In spring, investment bank Goldman Sachs published a forecast that the rapid development of generative AI could trigger a restructuring of the labor market and lead to the loss of 25% of jobs in developed economies.
