Starting October 2, Aeroflot introduced compensation for flight delays in the form of miles from the Aeroflot Bonus loyalty program. This is indicated in a message on the airline’s website.
The credit of miles will be made in the event of a flight delay due to the airline’s fault, this will be an additional measure to the compensation established by law.
In Russia, you can recover compensation from an airline if the plane did not arrive on time: 25% of the established minimum wage for each hour of delay, but no more than 50% of the cost of the plane ticket. According to data for 2022, the minimum salary for calculating such compensation is 100 rubles. In the event of flight delays exceeding a certain amount of time, meals and hotel accommodation are provided.
Aeroflot compensation miles are awarded as follows:
- delay time from 2 to 4 hours – 2000 miles;
- delay time from 4 to 8 hours – 3000 miles;
- Delay time 8 hours at 4,000 miles.
If the member number is indicated in the reservation, miles will be credited automatically. In other cases, passengers must register for the Aeroflot Bonus program and, no later than 30 days from the date of the delay, submit an online request via the feedback form with the subject “Flight delay”.
Miles awarded as compensation do not qualify. They can be redeemed for ratings and earn elite levels faster.
