The founders of a Russian startup developing bionic prosthetics have launched MeHandA mini. It is 80 grams lighter than the previous version (the largest weighs 550 grams with a coaxial adapter), but at the same time has the same speed and grip strength. This was announced by the CEO of the startup, Timur Sayfutdinov.
The creation of a mini version is the first product after the “era of stagnation,” Saifutdinov noted. The project team was faced with the task of mounting six motors and a control panel into an even smaller body of a bionic prosthetic hand.
MaxBionic was founded in 2014 by Russians Maxim Lyashko and Timur Sayfutdinov. In 2021, the startup’s development received the Red Dot Award: Product Design in the Best of the Best category.
In April 2022, MaxBionic transferred the rights to MeHand series products in Russia and the CIS countries to Metiz Impex. Then Sayfutdinov wrote that the Russian division will remain: it will deal with research and maintenance of brushes.
In September 2023, the startup’s founders sold the project to medical equipment supplier Metiz Impex. The evaluation was not based on income, they were higher than the market and the participants did not want to publish the figures.
