The robot’s cockpit has monitors that display images from external cameras, so pilots inside the body can control the robot’s arms and hands using joysticks.
This 3.5-tonne robot has two modes of operation: “robot mode”, in which it remains upright, and “vehicle mode”, which allows it to move at speeds of up to 10 km per hour. ARCHAX will be on display at the Japan Mobility Show, showcasing its capabilities in applications ranging from entertainment to disaster relief to space.
Ryo Yoshida, the 25-year-old CEO of Tsubame Industries, plans to produce five of these machines for enthusiasts but hopes they will find wider use in the future.
